Celebrating Women’s History Month: Telling Untold Stories + Pushing Boundaries to Ensure Equity #PeoplesHistories

In 2026, our city and country will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence — a document that continues to this day to inspire people across the world to demand freedom and equality. The Declaration of Sentiments, drafted and signed at the Women’s Rights Seneca Falls Convention in 1848, is one of the most concrete examples of how the vision statement put forth in Philadelphia in 1776 mobilized future generations to push for a world that truly includes us all.

As the city and country continue the journey to 2026 — and as we transition from Black History Month to Women’s History Month — PHILADELPHIA250 knows that the work of Independence Hall, of Seneca Falls, of Selma and Stonewall, is not finished. We also know that to build on the progress that has been made, we must share the stories of yesterday — and those of today — that have gone untold and unrecognized.

So join us as we revisit some of the conversations featured in our In the Pursuit… series that highlight Philadelphia women doing pioneering work that aims to get us closer to achieving our country’s founding ideals.
